IR Infrared Obstacle Sensor Module

This IR sensor detects objects in its path within a 2–30cm adjustable range, outputting a LOW digital signal when an obstacle is present. It is the simplest and cheapest way to add obstacle detection to a robot or automatic trigger system.

Limitations

IR sensors are affected by strong ambient infrared light (sunlight, halogen lamps). For outdoor use or precise distance measurement, the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor is more reliable. For robotics line following, use a dedicated IR array module. The IR obstacle sensor excels in indoor automated conveyor stops, drawer-open detection, and simple proximity switches.
